Although born in Florence, Alabama, George Beason, Jr. grew up in Huntsville. Upon moving to the new subdivision Thorton Acres near Drake Avenue in 1955, George lived within 150 yards of future fellow attorney Doug Martinson. Doug and George, along with their brothers, began a friendship then that continues today. George graduated from the University of Alabama in 1966 with a degree in marketing. He enjoyed his years at the University of Alabama and the Cumberland School of Law, working part time at a law firm downtown.

Upon graduating from law school, George joined the FBI as a Special Agent. He spent time in Washington, D.C. and Omaha, Nebraska before being transferred to Waterloo, Iowa. Covering a range of eleven counties, George investigated crimes ranging from bank robberies to military deserters. He also spent time in Cleveland, Ohio, before returning to Huntsville in 1972. George still has strong ties to the FBI as a member of the Former FBI Agents organization.

George has been involved with numerous civic organizations in the Huntsville area. He has served on the Land Trust and Space & Rocket Center boards and has held positions in the Sertoma civic club. Additionally, George has served on the City of Huntsville Beautification Board and authored the city parking lot ordinance.

George, his wife Lynda, and their three children and six grandchildren all attend First Presbyterian Church in Huntsville.
