Peter Beirne helps victims of asbestos exposure obtain justice from the corporations responsible for causing them to suffer life-threatening harm. He is an experienced advocate in the courtroom, adept at puncturing the claims and deflating the arguments those defendant corporations make in their bids to escape liability.

Mr. Beirne joined Weitz & Luxenberg in 2015 and works with the Asbestos Litigation team in our Los Angeles office. He began the practice of law in 2004.

Mr. Beirne first worked as an associate attorney in a Los Angeles law firm that focused its practice on mass tort litigation. He subsequently joined another Southern California firm that handled, among other things, personal injury cases.

Later, Mr. Beirne opened his own law office. His practice areas included personal injury, civil rights, criminal defense, employment law, entertainment law, intellectual property, business litigation and probate. In 2012, he closed his solo practice to join another law firm where he began concentrating on representing clients injured by asbestos.

Prior to gaining admission to the California bar, Mr. Beirne studied law at Notre Dame Law School. While attending Notre Dame, Mr. Beirne served as treasurer, and then president, of the school’s Irish Law Society. During his final year at Notre Dame, he also held the post of the law school’s Honor Code prosecutor.

Mr. Beirne was notably active in moot court: he served on the school’s Moot Court board, was a member of the 7th Circuit Appellate team, and participated on the Barristers National Mock Trial team. He found his moot court experiences so rewarding that he later accepted an invitation to act as mock-trial coach for students at South Pasadena, California, High School from 2006-07.
