She has served as President of the Riverside County Philharmonic, is one of the founders of the Riverside County High School Mock Trial program, and is a founding director for the Riverside Police Foundation. Ms. Blumenthal was a Board of Directors member for Riverside Boys and Girls Club; Riverside Opportunity Center Board of Directors member; and Head Judge of the Riverside County Spelling Bee for more than 30 years.

She has received many awards for her extensive volunteer contributions to the community, including the distinguished Gold Key Award from Soroptimist International of Riverside, the Athena Award, YWCA Women of Achievement Award, an honorary life member award from the Fraternal Order of Police Riverside Lodge 8, and the NAACP Law & Justice Award. She is mother of 4 children and grandmother to 7 grandchildren.
