Description Matthew C. Brown was born in Marietta, Georgia, where he grew up and attended George Walton High School in Cobb County. He attended Furman University, graduating in 2002 with B.A. degrees in Latin and Music, before attaining an M.A. degree from Vanderbilt University in Classical Studies in 2005. He attended the University of Georgia School of Law, achieving his J.D. in 2009, whereupon he practiced criminal defense law in Chattanooga for two years. In 2011, he took a position with the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit (GA) District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney and the state-paid Drug Prosecutor; during his tenure there, he prosecuted felony drug offenses in Superior Court, conducting many jury trials, bench trials, and pre- and post-trial hearings and achieving successful results with a large case load throughout the four counties of the Circuit. He also represented the State of Georgia before the Georgia Court of Appeals and Georgia Supreme Court. He is admitted to practice in the state courts of Georgia and Tennessee and in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. He is a member of the Chattanooga Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, the Georgia Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. Matt lives with his wife Christy and daughter Charlotte, age 3, in North Chattanooga and is proud to call Chattanooga home. He enjoys road cycling, golf, playing cards, and travel with Christy, his best friend, and reading books with Charlotte, his angel on Earth.
