Before coming to Volk Law Offices, Marianne had her own business working with attorneys on special projects including writing pre-litigation motions and writs in all practice disciplines and working on discovery in large cases. Her experience as an attorney has been concentrated around extensive research and writing, including law and motion in civil litigation cases and some appellate brief drafting and appeals work. During that time, Marianne wrote a motion that was upheld by the court, set precedent and became the lead front page article in the Los Angeles Daily Journal, the legal newspaper for the entire state of California. See Matthew Heller, Raising the Bar in Liability Fight, L.A. DAILY JOURNAL, March 29, 2002 at page 1. Prior to that, Marianne worked in a firm whose practice focused on wills and trust litigation. She coordinated discovery and wrote pre-trial motions in three million dollar fraud and undue influence case. The trial lasted a full month. Her first job out of law school was for a firm that practiced public/municipal law and employment law and represented school districts. During law shcool, Marianne interned for a Superior Court judge and worked in the legal clinic at her law school where she worked mostly on uncontested divorce cases. Marianne also worked for a forensic psychiatrist who was a nationwide expert on stalking. She helped draft revisions of California’s anti-stalking law and worked with the Los Angeles police department on stalking cases. After graduating college, Marianne worked for a major aircraft manufacturer in the economic forecasting department.
