Criminal Defense

Description

Emily joined the firm in 2018. She received her B.A. in Economics and English from Georgetown University, graduating cum laude in 2007, and obtained a dual degree in law and social work from Washington University in 2013. During law school, she was a member of the Washington University Law Review and interned with the Federal Public Defender for the Eastern District of Missouri.

After law school, Emily worked as a federal law clerk for the Honorable Nannette A. Baker, Chief U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Missouri, handling criminal pretrial motions and federal habeas cases, along with a variety of federal civil matters. In 2017, she joined the appellate division of the Missouri State Public Defender, where she represented indigent clients in criminal appeals and post-conviction cases, winning relief in multiple cases, including reversal of a conviction involving unethical prosecutorial misconduct.

Emily’s primary area of practice is criminal defense with a concentration in state and federal appeals and post-conviction remedies, as well as sentencing mitigation.
