Areas of Practice Bankruptcy

Lyndsey D. Dilks grew up in Gillett, Arkansas. She was a charter member of the Arkansas School of Math and Science. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Logistics from the University of Arkansas in 1998. Ms. Dilks lived in Memphis, Tennessee for four years working in the transportation industry. She returned home to Arkansas and graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law in 2006. During law school, Ms. Dilks held clerking positions at Knutson Law Firm and the office of The Pulaski County Public Defender. She also had the opportunity to study international transportation law in Guadalajara, Mexico. Ms. Dilks was honored by being selected as a law clerk for the United States Department of Transportation, which took her to Atlanta, Georgia and Washington, D.C. However, Ms. Dilks found her true calling when she took a bankruptcy class. Phyllis McKenzie Jones, her bankruptcy professor, recognized Ms. Dilks’ abilities and nominated Ms. Dilks to represent the 8th Circuit for the American College of Bankruptcy, Distinguished Student Award. Following this prestigious honor and graduation from law school, Ms. Dilks was invited to serve in a temporary position as a Professional Law Clerk to Chief Bankruptcy Judge Audrey R. Evans. Upon completion of her clerkship, Ms. Dilks joined the Dickerson Law Firm, P.A., a consumer bankruptcy firm, and represented hundreds of clients across Arkansas.

In April of 2008, Ms. Dilks joined the Brad Hendricks Law Firm, P.A. to start a new department within the firm, focusing exclusively on consumer bankruptcy case filings. The firm has grown exponentially with the addition of the bankruptcy department. Ms. Dilks expanded her practice to include Fair Debt Collection Practices work, home mortgage issues, and foreclosure matters involving her bankruptcy clients. She received extensive training in these areas when she attended Max Gardner’s Bankruptcy Bootcamp in March 2009. While maintaining a very active practice, Ms. Dilks is also very involved in her legal community. She holds various offices within several legal organizations. Her most recent endeavor has been to create the ATLA Bankruptcy Division, which is Arkansas’ first Debtors’ Attorneys only bar organization.

Between planning continuing legal education seminars and speaking to various organizations about bankruptcy laws, Ms. Dilks finds the greatest pleasure in knowing that she has helped an individual or a family save a home and receive the "fresh financial start" that bankruptcy relief provides.
