Kate McGrath Eiiis’s practice primarily focuses on litigating cases on behalf of defendants in the areas of employment law, personal injury defense, and insurance law. Her cases have been diverse, and include the following: representation of employers , including businesses and state agencies , in district court involving wrongful discharge claims; representation of a large governmental entity in obtaining insurance coverage for mass tort claims ; representation of a large, mental health provider with locations throughout Montana in administrative proceedings involving unemployment insurance and discrimination claims, and in district court involving personal injury claims; representation of former employee in district court involving noncompete covenant ; representation of small and large businesses in personal injury cases, including wrongful death and survival actions; representation of developers, contractors, and homeowners in construction cases; evaluation and consultation of employer ‘s employment policies and procedures ; and review of subpoenas for the compulsion of healthcare information for medical providers.

Kate is also active in the State Bar, and serves on the State Bar of Montana’s Board of Trustees and Finance Committee, the Lawyer’s Fund for Client Protection Board, and is the Trustee liaison .for the Women’s Section of the State Bar and the CLE Institute. Prior to entering private practice, Kate clerked for the Montana Supreme Court for two years. Before entering the legal profession, Kate worked for a decade as a park ranger for the National Park Service, and had the pleasure to serve in Grand Teton, Rocky Mountain, and Hawaii Volcanoes National Parks.
