Bob attended Oxnard High School, and between 1961 and 1965, was a member of the United States Marine Corps. Bob earned a B.S. in Accounting from California State University, Northridge. He continued his education at New York University, where he received his M.B.A. with distinction in 1975 and Fordham University, where he earned a J.D. in 1979.

Continuing the heritage of community service started by his mother, who will be 100 in August 2011, Bob serves on the Board of Directors for numerous local charities. He also has a weekly dinner with four generations of ladies – his mother, his wife, his daughter and his granddaughter. In his free time, Bob plays as much golf as he can.
