Mr. Exelrod is a nationally recognized trial lawyer and employment law expert. He co-authored the Rutter Group publication ‘California Employment Litigation’ for twenty years. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America continuously throughout its publication, recognized by Chambers as one of the five best employment lawyers in California and ranked as one of the top 100 Super Lawyers in Northern California in multiple years. Mr. Exelrod has also been named as one of the 500 leading lawyers in America by Lawdragon, and was designated as among the leading Labor & Employment lawyers in California by the Daily Journal. Mr. Exelrod litigated with co-counsel the Weeks v. Baker & McKenzie case through trial and subsequent appeals. The trial, which was extensively reported in the press and televised on Court T.V., resulted in the largest jury verdict in an individual sexual harassment case at the time. Recently, he was co-counsel in a trial in the San Francisco Court which resulted in an award of over $3,000,000 to an investment banker. Other victories included an arbitration award involving a Change of Control agreement, a jury verdict against Rent-A-Center, Inc. for harassing and retaliating against a managerial employee and a multi million dollar verdict against Oracle Corporation for retaliation and pregnancy discrimination. Mr. Exelrod recently represented Ellen Pao in her landmark discrimination case against one of the leading venture capital firms, Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers. The case raised important issues relating to the absence of women in the venture capital and tech industries.
