Peter M. Gahagan was born in New Orleans and raised in Mandeville. After graduating with honors from St. Paul’s School in Covington, he attended Tulane University where he graduated cum laude with a B.A. in philosophy. Peter attended Loyola University School of Law and was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar Association in 2010.

Peter began his legal career with the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeal in Shreveport where he expanded on the legal camaraderie of his family members who practice law in Natchitoches.

Peter returned to South Louisiana in 2011 and went to work for a mid-size insurance defense firm in Metairie. He represented local and national clients in a variety of matters including products liability defense, premises liability defense and commercial trucking defense. In 2012 Peter moved to a mid-size downtown firm where he worked through the latter part of 2016. His work from 2012 to 2016 included defense of statewide and national clients in a variety of insurance defense matters, including commercial trucking liability, wrongful death and survival actions, first-party claims and construction disputes.

Peter is a member of the Transportation Lawyers Association. He is admitted to practice in all Louisiana State Courts as well as the United States Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of Louisiana.

Peter resides in Covington with his wife and two children.
