Mr. Gorgos joined Coughlin & Gerhart, LLP in 1980 and has served as its Managing Partner since 2004. Mr. Gorgos’s practice is concentrated in the area of commercial law, banking and finance law, municipal and education law, and creditor bankruptcy matters. He is currently a member of the Northern District of New York Federal Court Panel for the investigation of attorney disciplinary complaints and a member of the Committee on Professional Standards for the Appellate Division Third Department. He has served as a mediator for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of New York and as an arbitrator for the Sixth Judicial District of New York. He is a frequent lecturer on ethical standards for the Broome County Bar Association’s Continuing Legal Education Program. He has been selected to the Upstate New York Super Lawyers list since 2011. He has also been selected for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America© since 2010 in the areas of Commercial Transactions/UCC Law, Municipal Law, Education Law, Bankruptcy & Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency & Reorganization Law, and Business Organizations (including LLCs and Partnerships). Mr. Gorgos is the past President of the Broome County Bar Association and a past Chair of the New York Conference of Bar Leaders. He has served as a Delegate to the New York Bar House of Delegates, representing the Broome County Bar Association, and as a member of the House as a Vice President for the Sixth Judicial District. Mark is currently a member of the State Bar Finance Committee and the State Bar Audit Committee. A Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, Mark has also been selected for numerous community leadership roles including those with Broome Leadership Institute, Community Hunger Outreach, and the United Way. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Roberson Museum and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of South Central New York. Mr. Gorgos was also selected by the U.S. Youth Soccer Association as East Coast Region 1 Boys Coach of the Year for 2005 and was one of four finalists for National Boys Coach of the Year in 2005.
