Doug Gramling grew up in Northwest Arkansas. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Economics at Culver Stockton College, a small private school near Hannibal, Missouri, then returned to Northwest Arkansas to obtain his Juris Doctor at the University of Arkansas Law School. He paid for his education by working multiple jobs at small businesses and auto dealerships where he received the experience necessary for a "common sense" approach that served him well not only in business matters, but also in the court room. His approach has resulted in successful representation of a wide variety of clientele.
Over the years, his practice led him to be chosen to represent the most severely injured people involved in accident cases, providing successful recovery for paraplegics, quadriplegics, individuals who have lost limbs, and individuals who have lost loved ones as a result of the carelessness of others. He has been chosen to represent publicly traded companies, a variety of local businesses, banks, and various professionals including, physicians, architects, certified public accountants and even other lawyers.
For his work in the courtroom, Doug was awarded "Top 100 Litigation Lawyer in the State of Arkansas For 2013" from the American Society of Legal Advocates. For his legal services provided to the community, Doug was awarded the "Outstanding Volunteer Lawyer of the Year 2012" by Arkansas Legal Aide, Equal Access to Justice Program. His practice also focuses on family matters representing parents in which the custody of children is aggressively contested and also spouses in which alimony and property division are at issue. As to area of real estate, Doug has successfully represented clients in multiple boundary line dispute cases, contractor lien claims, and other real estate issues. He has served as an attorney in real estate closings for developers, builders, contractors and individual buyers. He represents multiple landlords and rental companies, providing services in obtaining possession of lease property and also drafting or reviewing lease documents. He has also devoted significant time over the years to assist families in the probate of their estates, not only for many local families but routinely representing out-of-state individuals seeking to probate the estates of family members whose assets are located in Arkansas.
The real "judges" for the attorney are their clients. Shortly after a long and difficult battle with a large public company, a local businessman who had recently referred other people to Doug sent an unsolicited email, thanking him for assisting a friend. The last paragraph of the email read as follows:
"Thanks for all you do to help good people. You are a blessing to many. You helped Pati and me through the most difficult time in our lives. Your calm, positive and steady approach coupled with your inherent knowledge and wisdom kept us going and saved our business. I can’t thank you enough. Sincerely Jeff"
Another client retained Doug for help in attaining custody of his daughter. After moving to another state and using other counsel, he called Doug to let him know how much he appreciated his help when his case was in Arkansas. He then followed up his call with the following email:
"Dear Doug, Thanks for the efficient manner in which you had handled my custody case and modifications. Your attention to detail, returning my calls, and your ability to give my case the full attention it deserved showed by securing the healthiest environment for my child. I can honestly say you are a gold standard to which all attorneys should be measured. Thank you. Clarence."
