I believe I help each person who comes in with a problem. I bring clarity that clients have not seen before in their view of their predicament. I reach my goal when clients attain their goals. In over 30 years, my satisfaction is driven more by getting client’s through their crisis than it is by charging large fees.

My satisfaction comes from helping an injured worker receive a weekly check to pay bills; from helping a person hurt in a motor vehicle accident get her bills paid and being paid for her pain and suffering; from helping a parent arrange a schedule whereby he sees his children; from helping a person separate, divorce and seek a new life as a single person with a fair share of the marital assets.

Because I prefer satisfaction over large fees, I encourage parties to use mediation to resolve disputes as long as it is not inappropriate (one person has an addiction that inhibits free will or when there is domestic violence). This process encourages resolution with a lower expense.

I was chosen to write, as a respected Mediator in RI, the Chapter entitled Mediation and Other Dispute Resolution Alternatives in a book published for purchase to RI Lawyers and Professionals. The Book is entitled A Practical Guide to Divorce in Rhode Island and is published by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. of Boston Mass.

On June 19th, 2009, Steven was a presenter in a workshop for lawyers entitled "Potential Hazards in Family Law Settlements-The Changing Economy". This workshop was given in conjunction with the 2009 Annual Rhode Island Bar Association Conference for attorneys who take these courses of instruction to satisfy their Continuing Education requirements. This is not the first time that Steven has shared his knowledge of the topic and viewpoint to other attorneys.
