Zachary A. Kohl graduated from the University of Missouri in 2009, with a B.S. in Music Education. After entering as a Connecticut Scholar, Mr. Kohl graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2015. While a student at the University of Connecticut School of Law, he was active on the Public Interest Law Journal, serving as Assistant Managing Editor. Mr. Kohl was awarded a Public Interest Law Group Fellowship, third prize in the American Indian Law Review’s national legal writing competition and the CALI Academic Excellence Award for American Slavery and American Law. While a student, Mr. Kohl interned with Greater Hartford Legal Aid, the Legislative Commissioners’ Office, and the American Civil Liberties Union. He also a served as president of the law school’s chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut and served on that organization’s board as a chapter representative. Mr. Kohl was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 2015. Mr. Kohl joined the firm in 2017 as an Associate. Prior to joining the firm, he served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Vanessa Bryant at the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. Mr. Kohl clerked for the judges of the Connecticut Superior Court in New London, where he supported judges in the preparation of numerous trial court decisions addressing many issues argued before the court. He also clerked for the Honorable William J. Sullivan and the Honorable Stuart Bear at the Connecticut Appellate Court where he assisted in the preparation of a significant number appellate decisions concerning a broad range of issues argued before the court. Mr. Kohl’s practice is concentrated in defending civil matters, including claims in the area of premises liability, insurance coverage, professional liability, liquor liability, general tort liability and defense of automobile, trucking and underinsured motorist claims.

Mr. Kohl is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, Hartford County Bar Association, and Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association. He is also active in the young lawyers’ section of the Primerus Defense Institute.

Mr. Kohl serves on the Board of Directors of the American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut. He is also an avid "ballist" as a member of a vintage baseball club in New London. Mr. Kohl is married, has one child and lives with his family in New London, Connecticut.
