From early in my career, I have immersed myself in the field of securities litigation. I learned that the integrity of the financial markets depends on eliminating fraud and deception that can affect all market participants. For over twenty years, I have represented investors who have suffered devastating losses due to a wide variety of fraudulent investment schemes, including misappropriation and theft of funds, churning, breach of fiduciary duty, selling away and misrepresentation. I believe that victims of fraud need to be able to hold accountable those who breach the trust of the customers who rely on them.

At the same time, I recognize that market participants need to have their rights protected, so that financial advisors can freely seek better employment opportunities while brokerage firms have their legitimate business interests protected. I have helped several brokers and financial advisors navigate through hiring and firm transfers. I’ve successfully represented brokers and financial advisors in disciplinary actions involving the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Certified Financial Planner Board, and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. Additionally, I have assisted brokers and financial advisors with compensation disputes, employee forgivable loan claims, wrongful termination claims and Form U5 disclosure disputes.

I have published several articles in leading legal journals on a wide variety of securities and litigation related topics. I have been interviewed for articles in national publications, including the Wall Street Journal and USA Today. I am currently the chairman of the Chicago Bar Association’s Securities Committee, which puts on monthly continuing learning seminars that feature industry experts as speakers.

Moreover, I have committed time as an advisory board member to the Loyola Consumer Law Review, and an advisory board member to the charitable organization Little City Foundation.
