Scott Long co-founded his first law firm at age 28. That firm grew to twelve lawyers. In January, 2014, Scott and his friend and protege, Burke Robinson started Long & Robinson, LLC. Scott is considered one of the top construction attorneys in the Kansas City area, and he has distinguished himself as one of the area’s most accomplished attorneys in that area as well as protecting the interests of home owners’ associations.
Scott has extensive experience trying and arbitrating cases and arguing appeals. He has tried over 50 cases to verdict on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state courts. He has litigated a wide variety of commercial cost recovery, bonding, construction, homeowners association, real estate, and business dispute cases.
Scott has been recognized as one of Kansas City’s outstanding construction attorneys on multiple occasions. Scott has been honored as one of the Kansas City Business Journal’s "Best of the Bar", has been included in the Kansas City Super Lawyers edition, and has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America. Scott has an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell. He is a fellow of the Construction Lawyers Society of America, holds a Barrister, Order of Maximus distinction for his proficiency and experience at trial and is a member of both the Diversity Law Institute and Trial Law Institute.
Scott has been a lecturer on Trial Advocacy at the University of Kansas School of Law and a speaker at seminars that focus on trial tactics and construction law. He also is active in the community, having been involved in Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Kansas City.Scott earned his Bachelor of Science in Journalism degree with highest distinction and his Juris Doctorate, both from the University of Kansas. As an undergraduate, Scott earned academic honors including membership to Phi Kappa Phi. While in law school, he was selected to be a member of the Order of the Coif for his academic achievement. Scott also co-founded and was the managing editor of The Kansas Journal of Law and Public Policy, and was a member of the Kansas Law Review.
Scott is a proud father of three children. He enjoys exercising, adventure travel, and is an avid runner. He spends as much time as he can in the mountains of Colorado.
