Mr. Lucas is principally engaged in the practice of Family Law, with an emphasis on family law issues affecting same-sex couples. Mr. Lucas also practices in the areas of estate planning and general civil litigation.

Mr. Lucas received his Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern Law School after graduating from the school’s prestigious two-year accelerated SCALE program. While in law school, Mr. Lucas served as a student editor of the International Media and Entertainment Law Journal and as president of OUTlaw. Mr. Lucas competed in the 2007 Williams Institute Moot Court competition at UCLA School of Law and received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for his outstanding performance in the area of Evidence/Trial Advocacy. In 2007, Mr. Lucas served as a judicial extern in the chambers of the Honorable S. James Otero of the United States District Court for the Central District of California.

Mr. Lucas is a member of the State Bar of California and the Family Law sections of the State Bar and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Mr. Lucas is a board member of the Lesbian and Gay Lawyers Association of Los Angeles. Mr. Lucas is also an active volunteer at the Harriet Buhai Center for Family Law and the Asian Pacific American Legal Center, both of which serve low-income clients.

Prior to his legal career, Mr. Lucas managed business redevelopment efforts on the Sunset Strip as the first-ever Executive Director of the Sunset Strip Business Improvement District. With a background in marketing and public relations, Mr. Lucas has also managed and consulted on national, state and local political campaigns.

Mr. Lucas is a 1994 graduate of Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. He is licensed to practice law in every state court in California and in the United States District Court in the Central District of California.
