Description

Nancy Ly received her law degree from Hastings College of the Law. During law school, Ms. Ly was awarded with top honors in her clinical program with a focus on client-centered lawyering. As a clinical law student, Ms. Ly provided direct representation to clients in administrative matters and hearings. Ms. Ly was also a member of the Hastings to Haiti Partnership and spent one week in Haiti working in collaboration with Hastings’ sister law school in Jeremie working to help advance the rule of law and promote human rights in Haiti. Also during law school, Ms. Ly externed for an Alameda County Superior Court judge, interned with a public interest organization in Berkeley, and interned with the Sacramento County Public Defender’s office.

Prior to law school, Ms. Ly was a community organizer with one of the largest grassroots community organizing organizations in the country. Ms. Ly worked on the ground as an organizer and also lobbied on the state and national level for new legislation and policy reform.

Ms. Ly is from Sacramento, where her parents and nine siblings still live. Ms. Ly is fluent in Hmong.
