Amy has focused on employment and education law from the time she began practicing in 1999. Before dedicating herself to helping individuals, she gained important experience working for one of the largest national law firms in Kansas City in its employment and school law section. This experience has been critical in forming her dynamic approach to pursing the rights of individual workers and students. She has first-hand knowledge of how companies and public institutions function.

Amy knows it takes courage for an employee to take on an employer or a student to take on a school. She goes to great lengths to help her clients understand what to expect throughout the legal process. She will not try to force her clients to make decisions that they are uncomfortable with-she knows her cases are not about her, but instead are about her clients and making positive change in the two places we spend most of our lives-work and school. With a keen understanding that corporate employers and public institutions usually have the size and muscle to push individuals to feel as though there is little chance for success, Amy will not back down. She works tirelessly to protect and empower her clients through difficult conflicts, and come out on the side of justice. Her skill and fortitude is evident in the results she has achieved for her clients in jury trials, the appellate courts, and in settlement negotiations.

Amy grew up in Atlanta, but spent much of her time in Kansas City where most of her relatives were. She was the first in her family to attend college. She was lucky to be a good student, but she was even more fortunate to be in an environment where it wasn’t enough just to be smart. Instead, she had to use her abilities for practical problem solving to gain the respect of a family who had to earn every penny they had.
