Description

" I realize that people are often coming to me during one of the most emotional, overwhelming and sometimes frightening periods in their lives. Most of us never think that we will ever require assistance from a Family Law attorney and it is often a shock when this need arises . I am aware that the legal process can seem intimidating and confusing. Confronting a major life change whether it is divorce, a custody battle, an adoption or another legal issue is rarely easy.

I find that helping someone to successfully navigate a difficult time in their lives is personally and professionally rewarding for me. Every client’s situation is extremely important to me as I genuinely care about them and their future well-being. Therefore, I always focus on not only achieving the best long term results for each clients but also for the entire family."

Whitney is a knowledgeable, detail-oriented and empathic individual. She is also a powerful yet approachable attorney who always seeks to create trust with her clients and colleagues. She actively partners with her clients throughout every step of their case and never underestimates the emotional stress and turmoil which her clients may be experiencing.

While Whitney is a vigorous advocate for her clients in the courtroom, her first goal is to work closely with them to assess whether there is an opportunity to satisfactorily resolve the issues out of court. Although the courtroom process is sometimes vital to the protection of clients and their families, she believes that the best outcomes often result from people controlling their own decisions about their lives. Therefore she seeks to empower both parties to work together to produce a realistic and workable resolution to their family law situation outside of the courtroom when this approach is advisable. She also recognizes that some family law situations require court intervention from the very beginning.

This philosophy has assisted her in becoming a strong advocate for mediation and other alternative dispute resolution techniques. Whitney has the skills and personality to work with her clients and other colleagues in a proactive manner. Being able to use mediation as a tool for resolution of the issues between two parties brings her much satisfaction. She will soon be attending Collaborative Law training and looks forward to offering this option to her clients. Successful Alternative Dispute Resolution techniques such as Mediation and Collaborative Law can often significantly reduce legal costs and fees. Minimizing legal costs as much as possible is not only her goal but that of the Littman Family Law Firm.

Prior to joining Littman Family Law, Whitney was employed by another Family Law practice in Denver. She also spent a year as a judicial law clerk for the domestic relations judges and magistrates in Weld County. Before relocating to Colorado, she briefly worked for a securities and commercial litigation firm in Memphis, Tennessee. While the work with this practice was challenging, Whitney discovered that this position strengthened her desire to practice Family Law.

She attended law school at the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in Memphis Tennessee. During law school she focused her studies on family law. She functioned as a licensed student attorney assigned to the school’s Child and Family Litigation Clinic where she was directly involved with clients and their cases. Whitney also clerked for two judges and participated on the law school’s Moot Court team. Her team captured first place in the regional Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court competition in Las Vegas. She received the competition’s Best Oral Advocate Award. The team traveled to the National Moot Court competition in New York City where they placed 3rd out of 64 teams. Her team won the Best Written Brief Award for the competition.

In addition to the previously mentioned law school activities, Whitney coached a high school Moot Court team, edited the law school’s Mental Health and Public Policy Journal and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. The University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys Law School took notice of her efforts. She was honored for her pro bono activities by their selecting her to receive the Dean’s Distinguished Pro Bono Award and the Honorable David S. Kennedy Bankruptcy Achievement award for her Moot Court successes.

She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Emory and Henry College in Emory, Virginia. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Political Science and Psychology.

Colorado’s natural beauty and a judicial clerking position in Greeley enticed Whitney to move here. She is an avid reader, active snowboarder and frequent hiker. While she enjoys trying new restaurants, Whitney also likes to cook at home. Since moving to Denver, Whitney has become an enthusiastic Colorado sports’ fan.
