Former prosecutor and public defender, Sherri Mazur, started The Mazur Law Firm, LLC to aid the citizens of Alabama in their fight for justice. Sherri works tirelessly to protect her client’s rights and their future.

She began her training to be a trial lawyer while in law school. Traveling the country, competing in trial competitions led her to national recognition as a trial advocate. Her first place awards include the Thomas Goode Jones Closing Argument Competition, the J. Greg Allen Mock Trial Competition, the Lone Star Regional Championship, and the American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Competition. Sherri’s second place awards include the National Moot Court Competition, and the AAJ Regional Mock Trial Competition.

After graduating from law school, magna cum laude, Sherri was selected to be one of 16 advocates in the country to participate in the Top Gun individual advocate competition where she finished second and was named the Nation’s second-best law student advocate of 2014. She was on the Editorial Board of Faulkner Law Review, the Executive Board of Faulkner Law Board of Advocates, and Vice President of the Jones Public Interest Law Foundation.

While in school, Sherri received best paper awards in Legal Writing, Trial Advocacy, Judicial Law and Policy, and Criminal Law. She was a Walker J. Knabe Memorial Scholar from 2012 through 2014. She was named the 2014 advocate of the year and was awarded the Advocacy Award from Thomas Goode Jones School of Law.

In 2014, Sherri was admitted into the National Order of the Barristers, a national honor society for advocacy. After law school, she began teaching at Thomas Goode Jones School of Law where she taught Legal Research and Writing, Trial Advocacy and served as Assistant Director of Advocacy Programs. Sherri also coached several trial teams to championships. She continues to assist young law students and lawyers in advocacy and remains an adjust professor for Trial Advocacy at Thomas Goode Jones School of Law.

Sherri served as a Montgomery County Public Defender and a Montgomery County Deputy District Attorney. As a Public Defender, Sherri defended all types of misdemeanor and felony cases from arrest through trial. As a prosecutor, she handled a wide range of felony cases with a focus on crimes against children, elder abuse, and civil forfeitures.

Sherri served on the Child Death Review panel, the Human Trafficking Task Force, and the Elder Abuse Task Force. She also served as a lecturer for the Alabama Medicaid Agency’s Quarterly Leadership Meeting where she discussed Domestic Violence in the workplace. Sherri regularly volunteers with elementary schools, Meals on Wheels, and Thomas Goode Jones School of Law. Her passion for trial advocacy keeps her in the court rooms regularly where she fights for her client’s rights in civil, criminal and domestic relations.

Today, Sherri serves on the Montgomery County Capital Murder Appointment List, handles special prosecutions for the Alabama Ethics Commission, represents client’s in federal and state courts across Alabama, and handles a wide variety of complex cases including election contests, defective products, car accidents, wrongful deaths, medical malpractice cases, and criminal defense.
