Tony is a South Dakota native and a 1989 cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School. His law practice focuses on employee benefits (including pension abuse, insurance bad faith and ERISA- covered disability and health insurance plans), employment discrimination, and Medicare / Medicaid fraud and abuse. Tony was a member of the firm’s Dardinger litigation team and was responsible for developing the legal arguments which allowed the jury to return a $51.5 million verdict and for the Ohio Supreme court to uphold that verdict. He has lectured on ERISA issues in local and regional forums and has testified at the invitation of Ohio legislators in support of reform and regulation of managed health care. Prior to law school, Mr. Merry had productive careers in teaching and state and local government, including four years as Chief of Staff for the Governor of South Dakota. |
