Description

Steve Nagy has over ten years of experience assisting clients with real estate transactions, leasing, litigation, and regulatory matters associated with land and natural resource development. Steve believes that each client relationship should be built on a strong foundation of communication, and takes pride in developing straightforward business-minded strategies that fit each client’s unique objectives. Throughout his career, Steve has represented non-profit entities, government agencies, and numerous private clients.

Growing up in rural Ohio, Steve admired the small town lawyer from an early age. He learned to appreciate a lawyer’s role as problem solver, sounding board, business partner, and active member of the community. Steve’s love of the outdoors drew him to a judicial externship with the Colorado 5th Judicial District Court in Breckenridge, where he quickly fell in love with the state. Although Denver is far from the small town where Steve grew up, he makes a point of approaching each client interaction with the personal investment he so admired about rural practice. The small size and high caliber of attorneys at Alderman Bernstein offers the perfect opportunity for this type of client service.

At Alderman Bernstein, Steve focuses primarily on real estate transactions and litigation, including eminent domain, quiet title and other real estate-related disputes. Prior to joining the firm, Steve spent several years advising clients on oil and gas and mineral issues. He has assisted landowners and mineral developers in transactions, due diligence, permitting, lease negotiations, and litigation. He has also worked on a variety of projects involving sensitive environmental concerns and habitat mitigation. Prior to entering private practice, Steve served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Colorado, where he represented agencies within the Department of Natural Resources. He also worked as a transactional attorney with the Great Outdoors Colorado Trust Fund (GOCO), where he closed over sixty lottery-funded property acquisitions including urban parkland, trails, agricultural conservation easements, and water rights.

Outside the practice of law, Steve is an avid fly fisherman who enjoys getting on the water as much as possible with his wife, daughter, and dog. He volunteers with several charities that support research and families struggling with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). He also supports programs that help children explore the outdoors. Steve is passionate about helping young lawyers navigate the challenges of building a career that fits their values. He takes every opportunity to support new lawyers and law students seeking careers that benefit both their families and the community.
