Aaron M. Olsen is a partner in the employment law and consumer litigation departments of Haeggquist & Eck. His practice is focused on representing employees in all aspects of labor and employment litigation in federal and state court. Aaron also prosecutes complex class action suits, including consumer fraud actions, product defect cases, wage and hour actions, and unfair competition and false advertising claims, among others.

Aaron’s mantra — honed in 2015 while completing his first 140.6-mile Ironman triathlon — is “One foot in front of the other, keep moving forward.” He grew up alpine ski racing and competing in downhill mountain bike venues across the country, experiences that shaped his competitive drive, dedication to achieving his goals, and desire to earn success. He finds many parallels between the physical and mental challenges of competitive sports and litigation, and knows that greatness in the courtroom is the result of many small things done well, day after day. To Aaron, success in litigation and at trial is not luck — it is a choice.

Aaron was selected in 2015, 2016, and 2017 as a Super Lawyers Rising Star, an accolade given to no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in California. Aaron was also nominated as one of San Diego’s Outstanding Young Attorneys in 2011 and 2012. These accolades are a result of Aaron’s tireless fight for one thing – justice. He has represented clients in employment and consumer cases against such major corporations as Kaiser Permanente, Sharp Healthcare, AT&T, Penske, Trader Joe’s, Apple, Sony, LabCorp, and Hospira, among many other small and large corporations. Notably, Aaron served as co-lead counsel on a team that negotiated a $25 million settlement on behalf of students who attended (now U.S. President) Donald Trump’s infamous Trump University. Aaron was the first lawyer to field the phone call from and investigate the claims of Tarla Makaeff, who would eventually become the class representative in the case, and was instrumental in prosecuting the nearly seven-year litigation against Trump and his company. Makaeff v. Trump University, LLC, et al., Case No. 3:10-CV-00940-IEG-WVG (S.D. Cal.).

Aaron has served as co-lead counsel on numerous nationwide class actions and he has resolved hundreds of individual cases on behalf of employees and consumers alike. In the process, Aaron has recovered millions of dollars in damages on behalf of his clients, for, among other things, restitution, owed wages, emotional distress, punitive damages, and attorneys’ fees and costs.

Aaron is a member of the California Employment Lawyers Association,Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, the San Diego County Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Association, and served as a Barrister in the William B. Enright Inn of Court from 2015 to 2016. His written work has appeared in the California State Bar Litigation Review and San Diego Lawyer, and he has served as a volunteer judge for the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards and the University of San Diego School of Law’s Appellate Moot Court Competition.

Aaron is a graduate of California Western School of Law, where he served as editor-in-chief of the California Western School of Law Commentary and was an executive board member of the Student Bar Association. He holds a B.A. in business finance from the University of Utah
