Bill Paterson’s practice focuses on real property, business dissolution, employment and trust disputes. He also acts as a private mediator and arbitrator.

Bill earned his law degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, where he also received his undergraduate degree in history and his teaching credential. During law school, Bill was a member of the Board of Editors of the UCLA Law Review.

Prior to entering private practice, Bill spent two years with the Ventura County District Attorney’s office, where he was both a felony trial deputy and appellate supervisor. In 1969, he entered private practice with Ferguson & Regnier, where he soon became a named partner. In 1990, he and Tom Ferguson joined Michael Case and John Orr to form Ferguson Case Orr Paterson LLP.

Bill has served as the past president of the Ventura County Legal Aid Society and a past board member of El Centrito de la Colonia, a grass roots community literacy and outreach program.

Out of the office, Bill’s primary interests are traveling, hiking, reading, working out and spending time with his grandchildren. Bill is also an avid film buff and regularly authors movie reviews in the Ventura County Bar Association’s journal.
