Paul D. Rasmussen is a Partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office whose practice is focused primarily on environmental and toxic tort litigation. Paul has extensive experience in litigating and resolving complex, multi-party environmental and toxic tort matters. His environmental practice includes defending both private and public entities in high-stakes cost recovery and enforcement matters, especially those brought under CERCLA, HSAA, RCRA and common law theories.

Paul has represented clients in matters involving Superfund sites, manufacturing facilities, commercial developments, dry cleaner sites, chemical distribution and recycling centers, industrial ports, and landfills. In addition, Paul has prosecuted CERCLA, HSAA, RCRA and common law claims through litigation and mediation to obtain reimbursement for past environmental cleanup costs and allocation of future liability. He has also counseled clients on issues involving the CWA, CAA, NEPA/CEQA, and Proposition 65.

Paul is admitted to the California State Bar and the United States District Court for the Central, Northern, and Southern Districts of California. He is a member of the California State Bar Environmental Law Section and the Los Angeles County Bar Association Environmental Law Section.

Paul earned his J.D. in 1998 from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree that he earned from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1990.
