Her strong academic background and legal scholarship lead the firm to victory in the landmark appellate case of Ely v. Murphy — a case that changed Connecticut law, for the first time holding a person legally responsible for supplying liquor to a minor. She also argued and won a precedent-setting appellate decision resulting in the prohibition of gender discrimination in jury selection in Connecticut courts.

Recently, Carey won another impressive and important victory in the State’s highest court. In a precedent-setting ruling, the court permitted a Koskoff Koskoff & Bieder client infected with the AIDS virus to sue 13 years after receiving a contaminated blood transfusion, in spite of the state’s restrictive Statute of Limitations.
