ames Roane is the owner and lead attorney of Roane Law in Greensboro, NC, a successfullaw firm representing plaintiffs in legal proceedings involving serious motor vehicle andpersonal injury accidents as well as nursing home neglect and abuse cases. He has beenpracticing in North Carolina since 1999, and is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association,the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, the American Association for Justice, the Inns of Courtand the Friends of Residents in Long Term Care.

James graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from theUniversity of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1992. During his undergraduate years, James wasa two-term president of Tau Kappa Epsilon and worked as a supervisor at UPS. He went on toearn his J.D. in 1999 from the Wake Forest University School of Law in Winston-Salem, NC.During this time, James earned several honors including Most Outstanding Advocate from theNorth Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, was a regional winner on the National Trial Team aswell as the Elite Eight in the National Competition.

A few years after graduating from law school, James accepted a position as Director ofLitigation with Crumley & Associates, the largest consumer-based law firm in North Carolina.During his tenure at Crumley & Associates, James led a team of four attorneys and fiveparalegals as supervising attorney. He left Crumley & Associates in April 2008 to pursue hisdream of opening his own firm.

In addition to running a successful law firm, James currently serves as Adjunct TrialPractice Professor at the Elon University School of Law in Greensboro. His responsibilities inthis role include instruction of foundational trial skills and advocacy to law students … a role hefinds fulfilling and one which challenges him to continually seek new approaches to this craft.

Another role in which James was able to provide professional guidance was as a memberof the Search Committee for a new dean for the Wake Forest School of Law. In March 2007, hisinput as a graduate and as a practicing legal professional helped the committee find a new deanto guide the law school into the future.

In every endeavor undertaken, James has thrived and has been widely recognized for hisefforts. As mentioned above, he was named Most Outstanding Advocate by the North CarolinaAcademy of Trial Lawyers while in law school; Legal Elite 2007 named him top attorney inNorth Carolina under the age of 40 after he was chosen by a poll of almost 18,000 licensedattorneys who read BUSINESS North Carolina Magazine; and in 2008, the North CarolinaAdvocates of Justice awarded him their coveted Order of Service Award.

Professionally, James remains active in publishing and speaking. His verdicts have beenpublished several times in Lawyers Weekly, and he has been featured in local newspapers. Jamesis a popular and charismatic speaker, and as the current Vice President of the Nursing HomeDivision of the North Carolina Advocates of Justice and a member of the Guilford CountyNursing Home Advisory Committee, James speaks to groups on such topics as disasterpreparedness for nursing homes, the arbitration of a nursing home case, expert witness rules andspecial considerations in nursing home cases, and basic nursing home negligence.

James is married to Sarah Roane, also a practicing attorney. In addition to being adevoted husband and father, James enjoys recreational volleyball, bicycling and coastal fishing.
