Nathan hails from the Big Island of Hawai and is a proud graduate of Hilo High School. After receiving his B.A. in Ocean Studies from the University of San Diego, he obtained his law degree from the William S. Richardson School of Law in 2003 where he served as a member of the Law Review.

After law school he clerked for the Honorable Michael A. Town at the First Circuit Court, followed by more than five years at the State Office of the Public Defender where he successfully tried felony jury trials. After gaining extensive trial experience as a public defender, Nathan joined Bickerton Dang to pursue what has become a family tradition and passion — representing individual tort victims whose lives have been changed by someone else’s negligence.
