Ronica Scales, Senior Attorney, designs legal strategies and represents federal employees in employment disputes across the nation. She has represented numerous federal employees and former federal employees by securing victories and settlements before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Merit Systems Protection Board, and Office of Federal Operations. She defends clients, including federal whistleblowers, against adverse actions and prosecutes discrimination, harassment, and reprisal cases. Her clients have included employees and former employees from the Department of Defense, Department of Justice, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Agriculture, United States Postal Service, and other federal agencies. She enjoys investigating the details of her clients’ cases to identify key facts, develop legal arguments, and restore justice. Ms. Scales has been a counselor-at-law for nearly fifteen years and graduated from University of Georgia Law School in 2004. Throughout her career, she has focused on assisting those who are disadvantaged and who have been mistreated. Initially after law school, Ms. Scales practiced criminal law and she transitioned to consumer bankruptcy law. Before joining Southworth PC, she gained seven years of supervisory attorney experience. Now as an federal employment law attorney, she has assisted dozens of discriminated individuals requesting justice and fair treatment from their employers. She has experience helping clients through the entire federal employment maze: as a key part of the Southworth PC team, she develops facts, interviews witnesses, locates supportive legal authority, assesses the facts under the law, conducts depositions, negotiates settlements, and tries cases as necessary. In light of the challenges Ms. Scales has experienced with discriminatory practices in the workplace herself, she has a unique passion for employment law, which is apparent in her interaction with her clients and her dedication to them as well.
