Ross H. Schmierer is one of the founding partners of Paris Ackerman & Schmierer LLP. After spending the beginning of his legal career representing businesses in complex commercial litigation, Ross has focused his practice on helping consumers and victims of corporate wrongdoing. Currently, Ross serves as lead counsel, co-lead counsel or on the executive committee in several class actions pending in federal and state court in cases involving consumer fraud, product defects, food mislabeling, construction defects, false advertising, and other state and federal consumer protection laws. Ross has also successfully litigated numerous individual and class action cases involving violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

In addition, Ross has represented class members in cases against some of the nation’s largest credit card issuers, challenging the imposition of charges for so-called "payment protection" or "credit protection" programs. These cases included McKinney, et al. v. HSBC Bank (S.D. Ill.) ($23.5 million settlement for cardholders) (co-lead counsel); In Re: Bank of America Credit Protection Marketing & Sales Practices Litigation (N.D. Cal.) ($20 million settlement for cardholders) (member of executive committee); and In re Discover Payment Protection Plan Marketing and Sales Practices Litigation (N.D. Ill.) ($10.5 million settlement for cardholders). Ross has also obtained relief for New Jersey consumers as co-lead counsel in class actions against the red light camera vendor American Traffic Solutions and eighteen New Jersey municipalities ($4.2 million available to be claimed by class members) as well as the red light camera vendor Redflex and five New Jersey municipalities ($2.1 million settlement).

In 2013, 2014 and 2015, Ross was selected by his peers as a New Jersey Super Lawyer, a prestigious recognition reserved for no more than 5% of lawyers in New Jersey. In 2014 and 2015, Ross was also awarded a lead counsel rating in the legal discipline of Consumer Protection.

In 2015, Ross was invited to serve as a panelist at the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Annual Meeting. Along with other members of the Class Action Committee, Ross spoke about the "Latest Developments in Class Action Litigation." Ross has also been invited to serve as a panelist at this year’s New Jersey Association of Justice’s Boardwalk Seminar. As part of the program presented by the Consumer Section, Ross will address pending consumer legislation.

Ross earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, where he was an articles editor of the Brooklyn Law Review. While a member of the Brooklyn Law Review, he published a case comment entitled: An Attempt to Pick up the Fallen Bricks of the Wall Separating Church and State After Santa Fe v. Doe, 67 Brook. L. Rev. 1291 (2002). His comment was cited by several authors of subsequent law review articles, which included a law professor in the University of Pennsylvania Law School’s Journal of Constitutional Law. In addition, Ross was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society and was awarded the Best Brief Award in a National Constitutional Law competition.

Ross is a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates, the American Bar Association’s Class Actions & Derivative Suits section and serves on the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Special Committee on Consumer Protection and its Class Action Committee.
