Craig M. Schumacher joined the Carpenter Law Firm in 2003 as an experienced trial attorney. In March, 2010, Mr. Schumacher became a partner and the firm name was changed to Carpenter & Schumacher, P.C. He has spoken at a number of subrogation and construction law conferences, addressing topics such as large loss subrogation recovery, the Texas Residential Construction Liability Act and alternative dispute resolution.

Prior to joining the firm , Mr. Schumacher was an attorney and case manager for the prestigious national personal injury law firm of Baron & Budd, P.C. At Baron & Budd, he specialized in environmental and toxic tort litigation. His experience includes all aspects of representing industry groups and companies on product liability and insurance subrogation matters involving commercial and property and casualty claims. Mr. Schumacher has represented clients before every level of state and federal courts and has tried cases in numerous states around the country including Texas, Ohio and New York.

Following graduation from law school, Mr. Schumacher served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Smith County District Attorney’s Office in Tyler, Texas. As an Assistant DA, he prosecuted more than 125 jury trials to verdict, including three capital murder death penalty cases. While in law school, Mr. Schumacher was selected for membership in the Order of Barristers, a national honor society that recognizes distinguished third-year students for excellence and achievement in oral and written advocacy, Moot Court and Mock Trial Programs. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with an engineering management degree, Mr. Schumacher joined Engineering Science in Austin, Texas. As a project engineer, he focused on environmental engineering and assisted in the design and construction of hazardous waste landfills for a major petroleum company.

He is also very active in the community. Most recently, Mr. Schumacher coached the Robinson Middle School Mock Trial Team to the North Texas Regional Competition in Collin County, where they won first place. He also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity and serves as an usher and lector in his church.
