David Sheuerman retired after an illustrious 40 year career in 2018. He handled over 1,000 medical malpractice cases in defense of hospitals, physicians and other health care providers in numerous fields of medicine. He also defended multiple cases involving hospital staff privilege issues and physician licensing matters both in the courts and before the Medical Board. These cases include over 100 medical malpractice Superior Court jury trials and arbitrations.

He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley (1973) and his law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law (1977).

Mr. Sheuerman has been a frequent lecturer to health care practitioners in various specialties on the national, state and local level, including those at Stanford University Medical Center, various local hospitals and physician groups. He has lectured at law schools on the subject of medical malpractice and has taught multiple programs for the California Continuing Education of the Bar. Mr. Sheuerman has given invited lectures at International meetings on medical ethics.

He has served as a member of various Santa Clara County Medical Society panels and committees. He sits as a judge pro-tem and is on the Superior Court medical malpractice arbitration panel. At the request of both the plaintiff and defense bar, Mr. Sheuerman acts as a private mediator or arbitrator in health care law and other litigation. He has served on multiple Santa Clara County Bar Association committees.

Mr. Sheuerman was board certified in 1990 as a civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and is an elected member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). He has been selected by his peers as a Northern California Super Lawyers for multiple years and has been chosen in The Best Lawyers in Americafor over 10 years. Mr. Sheuerman has been named among the 32 best medical malpractice defense lawyers in California by BLA. He has been rated as AV in legal skills and ethics by his colleagues and the judiciary for over 25 years.
