Tim Simeone is a partner with the law firm of Harris, Wiltshire & Grannis LLP. Mr. Simeone has argued before the United States Supreme Court and the federal courts of appeals, and has nearly twenty years of experience as an appellate brief writer. He has worked on a wide variety of appellate issues including federal preemption of state law, election law, indecency and obscenity, insurance issues, antitrust, ERISA, defamation, and other issues of both state and federal law, but has particular appellate expertise in the areas of patent law, administrative law, constitutional law, and criminal procedure.

and then winning a 9-0 decision in the first major federal abstention case in the United States Supreme Court in more than twenty years;Crafting an amicus strategy along with the HWG appellate team and preparing a series of Supreme Court and Federal Circuit briefs in patent law cases for a leading technology firm;Representing a major national wireless carrier in telecommunications appeals in the federal courts of appeals;Filing multiple briefs in the Supreme Court on behalf of congressional leaders defending the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Mr. Simeone is also a member of HWG’s Trial Litigation group, where his appellate experience is valuable for analyzing legal issues, preparing and defending dispositive motions, and preserving arguments for appeal. Mr. Simeone also has broad experience with legal and regulatory issues in the telecommunications field. He regularly participates in proceedings before the FCC, where he draws on his experience as an appellate advocate to present analysis of complex legal issues simply and straightforwardly.Prior to joining HWG, Mr. Simeone spent the 2000-2001 academic year as a Visiting Professor at Villanova University Law School teaching classes and conducting research relating to intellectual property and First Amendment issues as they arise in the Internet context. He had previously practiced at a large Washington, D.C. law firm, where he worked on appellate and telecommunications matters, and took a brief hiatus from private practice to serve as a legal consultant to the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice in connection with the Microsoft litigation.
