A registered patent attorney, Dr. Solomon began practicing intellectual property law in 2004, with an initial focus on drafting and prosecuting patent and trademark applications. Dr. Solomon’s practice has since expanded to include preparing IP-related confidentiality and licensing agreements, and rendering patentability , invalidity, infringement, and freedom to operate opinions.

Dr. Solomon earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from South Texas College of Law, and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Emory University. In addition to becoming a registered patent agent while attending law school, Dr. Solomon was a member of the South Texas Law Review, and as part of South Texas’ nationally renowned advocacy program, competed in the Giles S. Rich IP Moot Court Competition. Dr. Solomon earned his doctorate in Organic Chemistry under the direction of Professor Dennis C. Liotta, co-inventor of the patented anti-viral AIDS drug Emtriva®.

Prior to and while becoming an attorney, Dr. Solomon worked for fifteen years as a Senior Chemist with Bayer Corporation at its Baytown, TX chemical manufacturing facility. At Bayer, Dr. Solomon specialized in improving and troubleshooting chemical processes involved in the manufacture of polyurethanes, polycarbonates, and polyols, and was awarded several patents for his innovative work. Dr. Solomon’s tenure as a laboratory scientist working within a full-scale production facility provided him with valuable insight into understanding how ideas become real-world solutions, which has helped him in assisting his clients in converting new concepts into practical and patentable devices and methods.

In addition to his expertise in the chemical and biochemical arts, Dr. Solomon has acquired particular experience as a patent attorney in the mechanical and electrical arts, including the technology of downhole tools and processes, oilfield related equipment, industrial machines, and laboratory instruments.

Since entering the legal field, Dr. Solomon has practiced intellectual property law with national and international law firms, and has developed expertise in counseling small and micro entity inventors as well as Fortune 500 clients.
