Prior to joining the firm in 2016, Mr. Spoerl served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Judge Gerald Bruce Lee with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and as a legal intern with the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice. Mr. Spoerl also represented The George Washington University Law School at the Vis International Moot Court Competition in Vienna, Austria, where he received an honorable mention for best oral advocate. Mr. Spoerl served as a senior member of the Federal Circuit Bar Journal, and participated in multiple legal clinics, including D.C. Law Students in Court, and the Public Justice Advocacy Clinic.

A member of the National LGBT Bar Association, Mr. Spoerl is involved in the LGBT pro bono legal community, and volunteers with Whitman Walker’s Social Security Disability Insurance Clinic where he assists clients with AIDS and other chronic disabilities in filing for benefits.

Mr. Spoerl earned his Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School. He earned his B.A., magna cum laude, in English and Business from the Florida State University.
