Over his career, David has recovered millions in settlements and verdicts for his clients, including a number of multi-million dollar results. He obtained a multi-million dollar settlement for the victim of a truck accident, and high six-figure verdicts in two trials involving an oilfield accident and a fall accident. He has successfully litigated numerous nursing home neglect cases, and served as a panelist of the California Association for Nursing Home Reform (CANHR). David is a graduate of Bakersfield High School, where he served as student body president, then received a bachelor’s degree from University of Santa Barbara with honors. He graduated from UC Hasting College of Law in 1976 and started with the Chain firm in 1977, becoming a partner five years later. He served as the president of the San Joaquin Valley Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, an organization comprised of recognized trial attorneys.

He also has been deeply committed to and involved with CASA of Kern County, an organization devoted to helping children find a voice in court dependency proceedings. He served on the board of CASA for six years, and has been a sponsor and program partner of the organization for 20 years. CASA trains volunteers from the community to work with abused and neglected children, and to be their non-attorney spokesperson in court. He has taught at local school-sponsored "Coaches Clinic" for more than 20 years on the topic of legal issues in sports. He, and other partners of the firm, were major donors in establishing the Grossman Burn Center at San Joaquin Hospital (now Adventist Health), the first major burn treatment center in Kern County.
