Upon graduating Brooklyn Law School in 1972, Mr. Tarshis joined the Kings County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney. It was during that period of time that Mr. Tarshis obtained extensive experience in litigation and trial practice. He served as an Assistant District Attorney and tried numerous cases, both in Criminal Court and Supreme Court and ultimately was promoted to Trial Supervisor of the Major Offense Bureau of the Kings County District Attorney’s Office.

Thereafter, Mr. Tarshis was promoted to Deputy Chief of the Supreme Court Bureau where he was responsible to supervise and oversee approximately 50 trial lawyers. He was then promoted to Bureau Chief of the Sex Crimes Bureau.

In 1980 Mr. Tarshis left the Kings County District Attorney’s Office and became an Associate of a Queens law firm where he was responsible for handling litigation matters. He continued with that law firm and its successor law firm until 1985, when he joined with his partner, Mr. Hammerman, to form the law firm of Tarshis & Hammerman LLP.

Since that time, Mr. Tarshis has continued to engage in extensive trial practice, in the criminal and civil litigation areas, both in Federal and State Courts. While Mr. Tarshis’ practice is predominantly in the State of New York, he has represented clients in other jurisdictions including California, Illinois and Massachusetts.

Mr. Tarshis has also represented numerous clients, both individual and commercial, in Real Estate transactions, Estate proceedings, Probate Proceedings, General Litigation and has served as an advisor when they find themselves in need of legal counseling and guidance.

His clients, whether they are newlyweds purchasing their first home or corporate clients purchasing a multimillion dollar business and/or property, have all benefited from Mr. Tarshis’ expertise in the real estate arena.
