Description Dirk van Ausdall is a trial and appellate attorney with more than 30 years of experience in civil litigation. Mr. van Ausdall has handled a wide variety of cases for both plaintiffs and defendants, including patent litigation, breach of contracts, investment fraud, defamation, legal malpractice, employment, government contracts, insurance coverage, and other commercial matters. Mr. van Ausdall has worked with several large law firms over the course of his career, including the San Francisco law firms of Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro and McKenna and Cuneo as well as the New Orleans law firm Lemle & Kelleher. More recently, he has associated Of Counsel to law offices seeking his expertise with complex and intellectual property litigation matters.Mr. van Ausdall has successfully briefed and argued a number of appellate cases resulting in published decisions, his first being C.F. Dahlberg & Co., Inc., v. Chevron, Inc., 836 F.2d 915 (5th Cir. 1988) and his most recent being In re: J.T. Thorpe, Inc., 870 F.3d 1121 (9th Cir. 2017). After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Chicago, Mr. van Ausdall studied at Tulane University School of Law where he was an editor of the Tulane Law Review and a judicial intern for the presiding judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
