Michael Working founded the Working Law Firm in 2006 and has worked on thousands of cases since that time. He is death penalty certified and a member of the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Mike has tried dozens of cases in front of judges and juries and feels more comfortable in a courtroom than almost anywhere else.

Michael Working is a frequent contributor to For the Defense, a magazine published every other month and sent to over one thousand Tennessee criminal defense attorneys. He was also a featured speaker at the Tennessee DUI College, a continuing education class held in October 2013, and won the TACDL Workhorse Award. He was named the Memphis Lawyer of the Month at the Memphis Roundtable in May 2013. He is also a cum laude graduate of the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis. In law school, Mike also received an award for the highest grade among all law students in Juvenile Law, Torts, and a seminar class on First Amendment law. Mike also serves as a special judge in the Municipal and General Sessions Courts of Shelby County.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mike was a small college football coach, and the youngest offensive coordinator in college football at the age of twenty-three. As a football coach, Mike developed skills that still serve him well as a trial attorney, like the ability to build a game plan, to thrive under pressure and make quick decisions in the heat of the moment. He is still an avid college football fan.

Mike has also been a small business owner and owned an interest in Lavoro’s Italian Trattoria, an Italian Restaurant in Memphis from 2008-2013. Mike served as a demonstrating chef at the Memphis ItalianFest from 2010-2013. Mike is also a member of the Blues Foundation and the Memphis Blues Society. When he is not working as a lawyer, Mike can be found in Cooper-Young cooking up Italian food for his wife of the last fifteen years, or being tackled by their two sons.
